Gas Sampling Tips
Using a pumped gas detector to sample the air inside a confined space is crucial to ensure worker safety.
Before taking air samples using a portable gas detector, here are some tips to consider.
Perform a bump test on the instrument before you begin
Keep the tube length as short as possible.
Allow sufficient time for air sample to reach the sensor (allow at least 4 seconds per meter of tubing)
Remember to use Teflon tubing for reactive gases such as chlorine, ammonia, hydrogen sulphide and hydrogen chloride
