Our service department has been operating since 1978, and our workshops in WA, NSW and QLD hold a comprehensive range of NATA and NIST certified calibration gases to calibrate almost any gas detector on the market.

Our authorised Service Technicians are trained directly by manufacturers including Industrial Scientific, Honeywell, Testo, ION Science, M-Power, Spectrex and Riken, as well as our own Gastech-branded range, ensuring every instrument we service is returned to manufacturer specifications regardless of brand or model.

What Happens During a Gas Detector Service at Gastech?

When your gas detector arrives at one of our workshops in WA, NSW or QLD the service file is opened and the instrument is assessed by a trained technician. The unit is inspected for physical damage, sensor condition, firmware version, battery health and overall functionality before any calibration work begins. If repairs are required a quotation is issued before any work proceeds.

Calibration is carried out using NATA and NIST certified calibration gases held in stock at all workshops. A significant advantage our service department has over others is the ability to generate our own calibration gases on demand using permeation methods, overcoming the inaccuracies of reactive toxic gases supplied in cylinders. Gases we generate in-house include ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and chlorine. During calibration we use individual gases as well as multiple gas blends to adjust for cross-interference factors. This is something automated docking station calibration cannot replicate.

To assist with fault diagnosis our Western Australia workshop utilises an environmental chamber, giving our technicians the ability to recreate the exact temperature and humidity conditions an instrument has been operating in, accurately diagnosing faults that would not appear under standard bench testing.

We hold one of Australia’s largest stocks of spare parts for all the instruments we supply as well as an extensive range of parts for other manufacturers, ensuring the fastest possible turnaround on repairs. Our major suppliers are linked directly into our computer systems for real-time stock visibility.

Regular gas detector service and calibration is a legal requirement under Australian workplace health and safety legislation. Australian Standard AS/NZS for portable and transportable gas detection apparatus requires instruments to be response tested or recalibrated immediately before each occasion of use and Gastech helps our customers meet that obligation, in accordance with Safe Work Australia guidelines.
