Area Monitors

A personal gas detector protects the worker wearing it. An area monitor protects the zone. Where personal monitors are worn by individuals moving through a site, area monitors are deployed at fixed or semi-fixed positions to continuously monitor the atmosphere across a defined area ,a tank farm perimeter, a confined space entry point, a hot work zone, a wellhead or a remote bore hole, alerting everyone in range when gas conditions exceed safe limits.

Gastech supplies three area monitoring solutions suited to different applications and deployment scenarios.

The Radius BZ1 by Industrial Scientific is the most capable portable area monitor on the market. It detects up to seven hazards simultaneously from 24 sensor options, runs for up to 75 days on a single charge with an infrared sensor configuration, shares real-time gas readings and alarms across a site via LENS Wireless, and is deployed in seconds with no setup required. It is used across confined space monitoring, perimeter monitoring, fence line monitoring, hot work, turnarounds and emergency response.

The BW RigRat by Honeywell is a fixed-position area monitor designed specifically for offshore drilling and rig environments, where continuous monitoring of the drilling atmosphere is a regulatory and operational requirement.

BoreRat is Gastech’s own remote borehole gas monitoring system, designed for monitoring up to six gases alongside depth, pressure and temperature from remote bore holes. Data is transmitted to a secure cloud portal via 4G/5G LTE in real time, with 10 days of battery runtime and continuous runtime available via optional ATEX-certified solar panel.
