MicroRAE

Wireless Portable 4-Gas Monitor

The MicroRAE by Honeywell is a wireless 4-gas diffusion monitor that simultaneously measures hydrogen sulphide, carbon monoxide, oxygen and combustibles (LEL). With built-in wireless connectivity across Mesh, WiFi and NB-IoT options, the MicroRAE delivers real-time gas concentration readings, GPS location, alarm status and Man Down notification to remote monitoring systems continuously throughout the shift. Compact, lightweight and IP-67 rated, it is designed for connected worker applications across oil and gas, utilities, lone worker programs and hazardous industrial environments.

Wireless 4-Gas Monitoring for the Connected Worksite

Most 4-gas monitors tell the worker what gases are present. The MicroRAE tells the worker and the safety manager simultaneously – in real time, from wherever the worker is on site. Built-in wireless connectivity transmits live gas concentration readings, GPS location, alarm status and Man Down alerts to remote monitoring software continuously, enabling faster, more informed decisions when safety threats arise.

The MicroRAE is available with three wireless technology options to suit different site infrastructure requirements. Mesh radio operates across a dedicated RAE wireless network with a range of up to 200 m. WiFi connects through existing site WiFi infrastructure. NB-IoT operates over a publicly available cellular network, enabling remote monitoring across sites with no existing wireless infrastructure at all — particularly valuable for lone worker programs, remote operations and widely dispersed sites.

Man Down and Panic Alarm

The MicroRAE includes a Man Down alarm that detects if the instrument has been in a non-upright position or stationary for a set period, triggering a pre-alarm followed by a real-time remote wireless notification if not cancelled. A panic button provides immediate manual emergency notification. Together these features make the MicroRAE well suited to lone worker applications where rapid emergency response is critical.

Connected to the Honeywell Safety Ecosystem

The MicroRAE integrates with Honeywell’s ConneXt platform, supporting ConneXt Plus, ConneXt Pro and ConneXt Loneworker configurations for real-time monitoring, alarm management and worker status visibility. Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity also allows pairing with a smartphone for data upload and device configuration without needing a PC or docking station. Full compatibility with AutoRAE 2 enables fully automated bump testing and calibration, reducing the manual effort required to maintain fleet compliance.

Compact, Rugged and Built for Industrial Use

The MicroRAE weighs just 206 g including battery and clip, making it comfortable to wear throughout a full shift. Its concussion-proof design and IP-67 ingress protection ensure reliable performance in demanding environments. A six-month datalogging capacity at one-minute intervals ensures a comprehensive compliance record is always available for download.

The MicroRAE is available with three wireless options: RAE Dedicated Wireless Mesh (up to 200 m range), standard WiFi (up to 100 m range) and NB-IoT which operates over a publicly available cellular network. The NB-IoT option is particularly suited to remote sites and lone worker programs where no existing wireless infrastructure is available.

A standard 4-gas detector monitors and alarms locally for the worker wearing it. The MicroRAE does the same but also transmits real-time gas readings, GPS location, alarm status and Man Down alerts to a remote monitoring system simultaneously. This gives safety managers live visibility into worker status across the site from a central location.

The Man Down alarm detects if the instrument has been in a non-upright position or stationary for a set period, triggering a pre-alarm followed by a real-time remote wireless notification if not cancelled. This ensures others are alerted to a potential worker emergency even if the worker cannot call for help.

The MicroRAE is compatible with Honeywell ConneXt Plus, ConneXt Pro, ConneXt Loneworker and Safety Communicator for real-time remote monitoring and fleet management.

Yes. The MicroRAE supports fully automated bump testing and calibration using the AutoRAE 2 system, reducing the manual effort required to maintain fleet compliance.

The MicroRAE provides 15 hours of continuous runtime in non-wireless mode and 11 hours in wireless mode from a single charge of the rechargeable Li-ion battery.
