GX-3R

Portable 4-Gas Detector

The GX-3R by Riken Keiki is the world’s smallest and lightest 4-gas monitor, weighing just 99.7 grams and small enough to clip comfortably within a worker’s breathing zone. Using a new generation of microsensors, the GX-3R simultaneously monitors LEL, O2, CO and H2S with a unique dual-filament LEL sensor that maintains detection capability even when one filament is affected by silicone poisoning. With 25 hours of runtime on a 3-hour charge, IP66/68 ingress protection, a 23-foot drop rating and a 3-year warranty on both the instrument and sensors, the GX-3R delivers more durability and reliability than any other 4-gas monitor in its size class.

The World’s Smallest 4-Gas Monitor. Worn in the Breathing Zone.

WHS defines the breathing zone as the ten-inch radius around a worker’s nose and mouth. Most 4-gas monitors are too large and heavy to be worn consistently in this zone throughout a shift. The GX-3R was designed specifically to solve this problem. At 99.7 grams and 55.9 x 64.8 x 25.9 mm, it is the smallest and lightest 4-gas monitor in the world, small enough to clip to a lapel or collar and comfortable enough to forget it is there for an entire shift.

This matters because gas monitoring accuracy depends on where the instrument is worn. A monitor clipped to a belt or tool bag is not sampling the air the worker is breathing. The GX-3R is small enough that workers actually wear it where it is most effective, which means the gas readings it reports are the readings that matter.

Dual-Filament LEL Sensor Technology

The GX-3R’s LEL sensor contains two active filaments in a single sensor housing. The standard filament handles normal detection. If it becomes desensitised over time or poisoned by silicone exposure, the instrument automatically switches to the second silicone-resistant filament and alerts the user with an HC Gas List message. Detection continues without the sensor needing immediate replacement, reducing downtime in the field.

A hydrogen-compensated CO sensor is also available, reducing false alarms in environments where hydrogen gas is present alongside carbon monoxide.

Long Runtime. Wide Range of Accessories.

The GX-3R operates for 25 hours on a single 3-hour Li-ion charge, providing more than a full shift of runtime with capacity to spare. For confined space pre-entry sampling without entering the hazard zone, the optional RP-3R motorised sample draw pump attaches to the GX-3R and supports tubing up to 12 metres in length. For fleet management, the SDM-3R calibration station can be used standalone with a USB flash drive or PC-controlled to manage up to 10 instruments simultaneously, with automated calibration, bump testing, alarm checking and data archiving.

Built to Survive the Field

The GX-3R’s impact-resistant body is rated for drops from 23 feet (7 metres), far exceeding the 1-metre drop ratings of competing 4-gas monitors. IP66/68 protection covers both high-pressure water jets and submersion to 2 metres for 1 hour. Operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 60°C. The combination of small size, long runtime, extreme durability and a 3-year warranty on both the instrument and sensors makes the GX-3R one of the best value 4-gas monitors available for Australian and international operations.

Yes. At 99.7 grams and 55.9 x 64.8 x 25.9 mm, the GX-3R is the smallest and lightest 4-gas monitor in the world and is small enough to clip to a worker's collar or lapel, within the breathing zone as defined by OSHA.

Yes. The optional RP-3R motorised sample draw pump attaches to the GX-3R and supports tubing up to 12 metres for confined space pre-entry atmosphere testing without entering the hazard zone.

The H2 compensated CO sensor reduces cross-sensitivity to hydrogen gas, preventing false CO alarms in environments where both H2 and CO may be present, such as battery charging areas or fuel cell applications.

The SDM-3R is a docking station designed for the GX-3R and GX-3R Pro. It can be used standalone with a USB flash drive for single-unit calibration and data storage, or PC-controlled to manage up to 10 instruments simultaneously for bump testing, calibration, alarm checking and data archiving.

The GX-3R carries a 3-year warranty on both the instrument and sensors, which is significantly longer than the 2-year warranties offered by most comparable 4-gas monitors.
