Test Before You Enter. That is What the BW Max XT II is For.
Most diffusion 4-gas monitors protect workers who are already inside the hazard zone. They measure the gas concentration immediately surrounding the person wearing the instrument. The BW Max XT II takes a different approach. Its built-in integrated pump draws a gas sample from up to 23 metres away, allowing workers to test the atmosphere inside a confined space before the first person steps in. That is a meaningful safety difference. It is the difference between knowing the space is safe before entry and discovering it is not once you are already inside.
The BW Max XT II simultaneously monitors the four standard confined space gases: combustible gas in %LEL, oxygen, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulphide. Combined with remote sampling, this covers the four gases most commonly tested before confined space entry. Your risk assessment may call for others.
SmartSample Pump Technology
Pump blockages are a real problem in confined space sampling. A partially blocked tube can restrict flow without triggering an obvious alarm, giving operators false confidence in readings that are actually compromised by insufficient sample draw. The BW Max XT II addresses this with SmartSample pump technology, which uses a semiconductor pressure sensor instead of a simple mechanical switch. This delivers best-in-class sensitivity to partial blockages, alerting the operator before a compromised sample reaches the sensors and produces a misleading result.
Simple to Operate, Easy to Maintain
Single-button tamperproof operation keeps the BW Max XT II straightforward for any worker to use without extensive training. IntelliFlash provides a continuously flashing green light that confirms the instrument has been bump tested and is monitoring correctly, no screen reading required. On startup, a full function self-test checks sensors, battery, pump and circuit integrity, so workers know the instrument is ready before they approach the confined space.
The IntelliDoX docking station automates bump testing, calibration and data download for operations managing multiple instruments. Datalogging runs for 375 hours at 15 second intervals, and the detector records its 30 most recent gas alarm events, so there’s a full compliance record without manual data entry. Settings are configured with Honeywell Safety Suite Device Configurator.

The BW MicroClip XL and X3 are diffusion instruments that detect gases immediately surrounding the worker. The BW Max XT II has a built-in pump that draws samples from up to 23 metres away, allowing pre-entry atmosphere testing before anyone enters a confined space. It is designed for teams who need a dedicated pumped confined space instrument.
SmartSample uses a semiconductor pressure sensor to detect pump blockages with significantly better sensitivity than a standard mechanical switch. A partial blockage that might go undetected with a mechanical sensor will trigger an alert with SmartSample, preventing compromised readings from reaching the display.
Yes, it can be worn during confined space work after pre-entry testing is complete. At 328 grams it is heavier than a dedicated personal diffusion monitor, so for ongoing personal protection during work after entry, a lighter instrument like the BW MicroClip XL is typically the better choice.
13 hours at 0°C and 8 hours at -20°C from a full charge. The battery recharges in approximately 6 hours.
Yes. The BW Max XT II is compatible with the IntelliDoX docking station for automated bump testing, calibration and data download.
The integrated pump draws a gas sample from up to 23 metres (75 feet) away.
