The Ventis Slide-on Pump by Industrial Scientific is an in-field attachable and removable sampling pump designed for operators who wear their Ventis gas monitors primarily for personal protection but occasionally need a pump for confined space pre-entry sampling. Compatible with both the Ventis MX4 and Ventis Pro Series, the slide-on pump attaches without tools, is powered by its own battery so it does not draw from the instrument battery, and can draw a sample from up to 15 metres away. Three battery options provide between 10 and 36 hours of pump runtime to suit different deployment requirements.

Personal Monitoring and Confined Space Entry. One Monitor. One Pump.
Confined space pre-entry sampling and personal gas monitoring are two different tasks that traditionally required two different instruments. The Ventis Slide-on Pump removes that requirement. It attaches directly to a standard non-pumped Ventis MX4 or Ventis Pro Series monitor, converting it from a diffusion personal monitor into a pumped confined space instrument in seconds, without tools.
When the confined space entry is complete, the pump slides off just as easily, returning the monitor to its standard lightweight personal protection configuration. This means workers carry one instrument instead of two, operations managers purchase and maintain fewer instruments, and the overall cost of a confined space gas detection program is reduced.
Powered Independently
The slide-on pump is powered by its own dedicated battery pack and does not draw power from the instrument battery. This is an important design feature, it means the instrument’s gas monitoring runtime is not reduced when the pump is in use. The pump and instrument batteries can be charged separately, and when using Li-ion battery packs they should be charged independently. For simplified logistics, the same battery packs and chargers used for Ventis instruments are compatible with the slide-on pump.
Two Battery Options
The slide-on pump is available with two battery configurations. The standard rechargeable Li-ion battery pack provides 18 hours of pump runtime at 20°C. The extended range Li-ion battery pack provides 36 hours of pump runtime, suited to longer deployment scenarios.
Important Sampling Note
When using the slide-on pump with sample tubing, allow sufficient time for the gas sample to travel from the sampling point to the instrument’s sensors before reading the display. As a guide, allow a base time of 2 minutes plus 2 seconds for each 30 cm of sample tube length. Reading the display before the sample has reached the sensors will give inaccurate results.
