OXYBABY med
Medical Gas Analyser
The WITT OXYBABY med verifies what’s actually coming out of a medical gas outlet before it reaches a patient. Connect it to the outlet point, and it checks the gas type, the concentration and the line pressure, with the result shown straight away on the illuminated display. It’s hygienically designed, cordless, and logs the last 500 measurements for documentation and export.
KEY BENEFITS
- Confirms gas type, concentration and line pressure in one measurement
- Verifies the outlet before the gas reaches a patient
- Hygienically optimised design and materials for clinical environments
- Cordless and handheld, so any outlet in a facility can be checked
- Logs the last 500 measurements for documentation and export

Verifying the Outlet, Not the Cylinder
A medical gas system is only as reliable as its last connection.
Cylinders are labelled and certified, and a reticulated system is commissioned and tested. What neither confirms is what’s coming out of a particular outlet on a particular day, after a maintenance change, a reconfiguration or a cross connection.
The OXYBABY med answers that directly. Connect it at the outlet point, and the measurement starts straight away, with the result shown on the illuminated display.
It checks the gas type, the concentration and the pressure in the line. That combination is what makes it useful. Gas type catches a cross connection. Concentration catches dilution or contamination. Pressure catches a supply problem. One check covers all three.
Two Versions
| Version | Gases | Sensor |
|---|---|---|
| OXYBABY med O2 | Oxygen | Electrochemical cell, about 2 years life |
| OXYBABY med O2/CO2 | Oxygen and carbon dioxide | Electrochemical cell for O2, IR absorption for CO2 |
Both measure from 0 to 100% in 0.1% steps, accurate to ±1% full scale, with a 1 second response time. Line pressure is measured from 0 to 10 bar absolute. Calibration is a simple two point process.
Built for a Clinical Setting
The design and materials are hygienically optimised, and it’s easy to clean, which matters for an instrument moving between patient areas.
Operation is a single button, so verification can be carried out by biomedical engineering, facilities or clinical staff, without the instrument becoming a specialist tool only one person can use. Sample flow control warns if the flow isn’t right for a valid measurement.
It’s cordless, running on three rechargeable batteries, and weighs 454 grams, so checking each outlet on a ward is practical rather than a project. The housing is shock resistant and rated IP54.
An optional adapter set is available for different outlet connections.
The Record
The instrument logs the last 500 measurements, and each can be assigned to a user and an application. It manages up to 25 users, 100 applications and 50 allocations, so measurements are organised by who took them and where.
Data transfers to a PC over USB, and the OBCCX software provides graphical analysis, master data management and export.
On a medical gas system, the record is often the point. Showing that outlets were verified after a maintenance intervention, and keeping that evidence, is what an accreditation process asks for.
Where It’s Used
Hospitals and day surgeries. Medical gas outlet verification after maintenance or reconfiguration. Commissioning and recommissioning of reticulated systems. Ambulance and patient transport oxygen checks. Aged care and palliative facilities. Veterinary practices. Dental surgeries with piped oxygen. Any facility where gas reaches a patient and the outlet needs confirming rather than assuming.

- Medical & Healthcare
Gas type, gas concentration and line pressure, in a single measurement taken at the outlet point.
Because commissioning confirms the system as it was built. It does not confirm what a particular outlet delivers after a maintenance change, a reconfiguration or a cross connection.
Yes. Design and materials are hygienically optimised for use in patient areas.
Yes. The last 500 measurements are logged, and can be assigned to users and applications. They transfer over USB to the OBCCX software for analysis and digital record keeping.
There are two versions: oxygen only, or oxygen and carbon dioxide. Both measure 0 to 100%, accurate to ±1% full scale. Talk to our Technical Consultants about the right version for your outlets.
No. It's a simple one button operation, so biomedical, facilities or clinical staff can carry out verification.
