SON4
Alarm Sounder and Beacon
The SON4 is a compact alarm sounder with an integral Xenon strobe beacon, putting a gas alarm where people are rather than at the panel. Sound output is selectable to 106 dB at one metre across 32 tone options, and the flame retardant housing is IP66 rated for indoor or outdoor use. Multiple units synchronise automatically, and duplicate cable terminations let a run be daisy chained. Available in red or white.
KEY BENEFITS
- Sounder and Xenon strobe in one unit, so the alarm is heard and seen
- Selectable output to 106 dB at one metre, with 32 tones to choose from
- Multiple units synchronise automatically, so a site sounds as one alarm rather than a clatter
- Duplicate cable terminations in and out allow daisy chaining along a run
- IP66 rated flame retardant housing, continuously rated for sustained alarm

A gas detector that alarms at the panel protects the panel. The SON4 exists to put the warning where people actually are, which on most sites is somewhere else entirely.
It combines a high output sounder with an integral Xenon strobe. Both matter, because a sounder alone fails where machinery is running or hearing protection is worn, and a strobe alone fails for anyone facing the other way. Output is selectable at 100, 103 or 106 dB at one metre with 32 tone options, so the alarm can be set loud enough to carry without becoming intolerable in a small space, and given a tone that is not confused with the fire alarm.
Automatic synchronisation across a multi-sounder system is the feature installers appreciate. Without it, several sounders on one site drift out of phase and the result is noise rather than a warning. With it, the whole site sounds as one.
Installation is wire to base, so the unit is wired and then the body fitted, and duplicate cable terminations mean a cable comes in and goes out to the next device without junction boxes. It mounts on external lugs or internal BESA compatible fixing positions, with stainless steel fixings.
Housings are available in red or white, and specific tone configurations and frequencies can be specified. It suits general signalling beyond gas detection, including fire, security and process control.
