The SafEye 700 is an optical open-path (line-of-sight) gas detection system that uses Xenon Flash infrared technology and DOAS spectral fingerprint analysis to detect flammable hydrocarbon gases over paths from 4 m up to 140 m.
KEY BENEFITS
- Proven technology used by BP, Shell, ExxonMobil and Statoil
- One-person commissioning and installation
- Fast 3-second response
- Detects a wide range of gaseous hydrocarbons
- Cost effective - one unit replaces 5 to 20 point detectors

Line-of-Sight Flammable Gas Detection for the Harshest Environments
The SafEye 700 consists of an advanced Xenon Flash infrared transmitter and an infrared receiver separated over a line of sight from 4 m up to 140 m. It detects and quantifies flammable gas presence even where dust, fog, rain, snow or vibration cause a high reduction of signal.
The system analyses atmospheric absorption at three selected spectral bands, using a reference sensor to detect beam blockage, compensate for changing humidity and flag failed light sources or dirty optics. Heated optics on both source and detector address icing, condensation and snow.
Housed in low-profile, rugged stainless steel ATEX-approved enclosures, one SafEye 700 system can replace between 5 and 20 point gas detectors, delivering fast 3-second response with a wide misalignment tolerance and immunity to sensor poisoning.

The system detects and quantifies flammable gas over a line of sight from 4 m (13 ft) up to 140 m (460 ft).
It provides direct reading with high sensitivity and a fast response time of 3 seconds.
Yes. It is proven in harsh environments up to 90% beam blockage, and heated optics on the source and detector reduce icing, condensation and snow.
Standard 4-20 mA output with a 3 mA maintenance-call mode, or RS-485 Modbus-compatible output allowing networking of up to 256 detectors.
No. It is an electro-optical system that is not affected by chemicals, so it cannot be poisoned.
