Self-Contained Open-Path Combustible Gas Detection
The SafEye 200 Series detects combustible gases at concentrations lower than the lower explosion limit (LEL) over a line of sight of up to 140 m (460 ft). It is a preferred system for offshore oil companies because it is immune to false alarms caused by partial blockage, extreme weather and reflected sunlight, flame and other black-body radiation.
The system remains fully functional in heavy fog, rain and snow that obscures up to 90% of the signal. In a North Sea installation tested over six harsh winter months of dense fog, snow and rain, the SafEye 200 was fully operational at all times.
Its unique flash source delivers a powerful radiation signal for less than one millisecond at pre-selected intervals, responding only to fast changes in gas concentration. Special optics give a misalignment tolerance of plus or minus one degree in all directions, and the detector is not subject to poisoning.
