High Volume Cylinders
Once a fleet is large enough that disposable cylinders get used up well before they expire, the cost per litre becomes the thing worth optimising. High volume cylinders carry higher fill pressures and larger volumes, which drops that figure substantially. A small rental applies on the cylinder and is usually recovered quickly.
KEY BENEFITS
- Substantially lower cost per litre than disposable cylinders
- Higher fill pressures and larger volumes, so fewer changes
- Suits fleets getting through disposables before the expiry date
- Small cylinder rental, generally recovered well inside the first year
- Consumption calculator establishes whether the change is worth making

The decision here is arithmetic rather than judgement.
Disposable cylinders are the sensible choice when the constraint is shelf life, which is the case for most sites. They stop being sensible when the constraint becomes consumption. If you are ordering replacements because cylinders are empty rather than because they have expired, you are paying disposable prices for bulk usage.
High volume cylinders reverse that. The cost per litre falls significantly, and the higher fill pressure means fewer cylinder changes during a testing programme. A small rental applies on the cylinder itself, which is what allows the gas price to drop, and it is normally recovered quickly.
Working out the crossover is worth doing properly rather than estimating. Give us the gas and your monthly usage and we will identify whether a larger cylinder reduces your cost, and by how much.
A high volume cylinder also needs a regulator suited to it, so the regulator should be specified at the same time.

When you are replacing cylinders because they are empty rather than because they have expired. At that point you are paying disposable prices for bulk consumption.
Because the cylinder is returnable rather than disposable, and that is what allows the gas itself to be priced considerably lower per litre.
Tell us the gas and your monthly usage and we will work it out. The saving depends on consumption, so it is a calculation rather than a rule.
