Tango TX1

Single Gas Detector

The Tango TX1 by Industrial Scientific is a single gas detector built around patented DualSense Technology, which uses two sensors of the same type to detect a single gas. This redundant sensor approach significantly increases worker safety regardless of bump test frequency, while reducing the overall cost of ownership. With a 2-year battery runtime in always-on mode, a Guaranteed for Life warranty on the instrument, and a 100dB audible alarm, the Tango TX1 is one of the safest and most reliable single gas detectors available for personal protection.

KEY BENEFITS

  •   DualSense Technology increases worker safety by using two sensors to detect the same gas
  •   Guaranteed for Life with replaceable sensors and batteries that extend the life of the instrument
  •   Optional AlarmAmp increases audible alarms to 110dB for high-noise environments
  •   DSX docking station compatible for easy maintenance
  •   2-year always-on battery runtime with replaceable battery for continued operation

The Single Gas Detector That Keeps Working Even When a Sensor Fails

The Tango TX1 by Industrial Scientific is built on a simple but powerful idea: what if your single gas detector kept protecting you even if one of its sensors failed? That is exactly what DualSense Technology delivers. By installing two sensors of the same type in a single instrument, the Tango TX1 provides a level of redundancy that no conventional single-sensor gas detector can match.

The two sensor readings are processed through a proprietary algorithm and displayed as a single reading to the user. If one sensor fails in the field, the instrument continues to operate normally using the remaining sensor, keeping the worker protected without interruption. This approach has been validated against real-world bump test data collected through Industrial Scientific’s iNet platform, confirming that DualSense Technology significantly reduces the risk of undetected sensor failure compared to single-sensor instruments, regardless of the user’s current bump test policy.

Always On, Always Ready

The Tango TX1 operates in always-on mode for up to two years on a single battery, eliminating the need for daily charging. When the battery reaches the end of its life, it is user-replaceable, allowing the instrument to continue operating for another two years. Combined with the Guaranteed for Life warranty on the instrument itself (excluding sensors, batteries and filters), the Tango TX1 is designed to deliver long-term value without the replacement cycle that typically drives up fleet costs.

CO and H2S sensors carry a three-year warranty. All other sensor types carry a two-year warranty.

Loud, Clear and Impossible to Ignore

The Tango TX1 alarms at 100dB at 10cm, making it one of the loudest single gas detectors available. For even noisier environments, the optional AlarmAmp accessory increases the audible alarm to 110dB. Three strobe-emitting visual alarm LEDs, two red and one blue, combine with a built-in vibration alarm to ensure workers are alerted through multiple channels simultaneously.

The instrument’s multi-plane sensor ports sample air from three directions, promoting continuous gas detection even if one or two of the sensor inlet planes become partially obstructed.

Data Logging and Fleet Management

The Tango TX1 logs data continuously at 10-second intervals, storing approximately three months of readings. The event log records up to 60 alarm events, 30 error events and up to 250 calibration and bump test records, all date and time stamped. Data is downloaded when the unit is docked in a compatible DSX docking station, making fleet management and compliance record-keeping straightforward.

DualSense Technology uses two sensors of the same type to detect a single gas. The two readings are processed through a proprietary algorithm and displayed as a single reading. If one sensor fails, the instrument continues operating on the remaining sensor, keeping the worker protected.

No. Adding a second gas type would defeat the purpose of DualSense Technology, which uses both sensor slots for redundant detection of the same gas. If a two-gas monitor is required, the Tango TX2 is the appropriate choice.

No. The Tango TX1 operates in always-on mode for up to two years on a single non-rechargeable battery. When the battery is depleted it is user-replaceable, allowing the instrument to continue operating.

The Tango TX1 instrument is warranted for as long as it is supported by Industrial Scientific, with no defined end date. The warranty excludes sensors, batteries and filters. CO and H2S sensors carry a three-year warranty and all other sensors carry a two-year warranty.

The instrument will continue to operate normally using the remaining working sensor. The worker remains protected. The instrument will also alert the user to the sensor fault condition.

The Tango TX1 is compatible with the Industrial Scientific DSX docking station, which handles bump testing, calibration and data download.
