Personal Four Gas Protection From ION Science

The ARA-X4 is a rugged four gas detector built for worker safety in hazardous environments. It monitors up to four gases at once and is designed for confined space entry and personal protection.

It’s certified to ATEX and IECEx, rated IP67 and backed by a five year instrument warranty. That makes it a reliable and cost effective choice for daily wear.

Choose the Sensors You Need

The sensor setup is configurable. Choose from oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide, a Dual Tox sensor for CO and H2S, hydrogen cyanide, sulphur dioxide and LEL.

Oxygen comes as a leaded or lead free sensor. The lead free option lasts longer and is the more environmentally friendly choice. The leaded sensor is the lower cost alternative.

For combustible gas, choose a pellistor or an infrared (NDIR) LEL sensor. The pellistor model runs for 18 hours per charge. The infrared model runs for up to 60 days, based on 11 hours of use per day. Trained personnel can change the sensor configuration as workplace hazards change.

Designed Around the Worker

The LCD flips to suit the way the instrument is worn, so readings are always the right way up. A green backlight shows normal operation, and a bright red backlight makes an alarm impossible to overlook, even in high gas concentrations.

When no alarms are active, an optional SAFE mode shows a SAFE icon, giving workers confidence they’re protected. A green confidence LED flashes once a minute to confirm the instrument is working.

Alarms come through a 95 dB buzzer, six red and green LEDs and a vibration alarm. Two button operation keeps it simple, with a choice of eight display languages.

Five Year Instrument Warranty

The ARA-X4 instrument carries a five year warranty, excluding consumables and sensors. Refer to the ION Science warranty statement for full details.

Easy To Maintain

The PTFE filter is easy to reach, so it can be replaced without taking the instrument apart. That keeps downtime low and reduces the risk of water or dirt getting in. A built in diagnostic feature runs self tests and quickly identifies faults.

The ARA-X4 stores 60,000 data logs, plus 50 bump test, 50 calibration and 50 event logs. Data download and instrument configuration are handled through ARA-X Manager PC software via an IR link.

Streamlined Fleet Maintenance

The ARA-X Docking Station automates bump testing, calibration and alarm verification. It logs serial numbers, test dates and times for compliance records.

Multiple gas inlet ports support all sensor configurations. It runs on an internal battery for standalone use, and firmware can be updated via USB.

The ARA-X4 has a five year instrument warranty, excluding consumables and sensors. The infrared LEL model runs for up to 60 days per charge, so most sites don't need to charge it daily. It also has a flip screen, an optional SAFE mode and a choice of pellistor or infrared LEL and leaded or lead free O2 sensors.

The pellistor LEL sensor uses catalytic bead technology and runs for 18 hours per charge. The NDIR infrared LEL sensor runs for up to 60 days per charge, based on 11 hours of use per day. Because it measures gas optically rather than through a catalytic reaction, it isn't affected by the poisons that can degrade pellistor sensors.

The Dual Tox sensor is a single sensor module that simultaneously detects both CO and H2S. This allows the ARA-X4 to monitor two toxic gases using a single sensor slot, freeing up the remaining sensor slots for additional gases such as O2 and LEL.

Yes. The ARA-X4's configurable sensor setup allows trained personnel to adjust sensor configurations based on specific workplace hazards.

The ARA-X Docking Station automates bump testing, calibration and alarm verification for the ARA-X4. It features multiple gas inlet ports supporting all sensor configurations, operates on an internal battery for standalone deployment and supports firmware updates via USB.

The ARA-X4 carries a 5-year instrument warranty, excluding consumables and sensors.
