RGX Gateway

Wireless Gas Detection Hub

The RGX Gateway by Industrial Scientific is a rugged wireless hub that connects Ventis Pro5 personal monitors and Radius BZ1 area monitors to iNet live monitoring software. Through LENS Wireless, the monitors share gas readings and alarms with each other and the gateway, which sends the data to the cloud by cellular, Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Safety contacts are alerted within seconds of a gas alarm, Man Down or panic event, with the worker’s name, location and hazard details. It sets up in minutes and runs for up to 7 days, or indefinitely with external power.

KEY BENEFITS

  •   Real-time gas alarm, Man Down and panic alerts transmitted to designated safety contacts via text or email within seconds of an incident
  •   Live map showing worker location and current gas conditions for faster, better-informed emergency response
  •   Connects via cellular, WiFi or Ethernet with automatic failover so monitoring continues even if one connectivity method fails
  •   Compatible with Ventis Pro5 personal gas monitors and Radius BZ1 area monitors via LENS Wireless
  •   Up to 7 days of battery runtime: long enough for permit tasks, shutdowns and multi-day incidents

Live Monitoring Without Fixed Infrastructure

Most connected safety systems need site Wi-Fi, fixed access points or server infrastructure before they can be used. The RGX Gateway removes that need. It forms a LENS Wireless network with Ventis Pro5 and Radius BZ1 monitors, then sends their data to iNet live monitoring by cellular, Wi-Fi or Ethernet, whichever is available on site.

If the main connection drops, automatic failover switches to the next available method, and the failover order can be set to suit the site.

Designated safety contacts get text or email alerts within seconds of a gas alarm, Man Down event or panic alarm. Each alert includes the worker’s name, location and the hazard, and a live map shows where workers are and current gas conditions. The response team can act straight away, without radio calls to confirm who’s affected and where.

Designed to Go Where the Work Is

The RGX Gateway runs for up to 7 days on its internal rechargeable battery. That covers permit tasks that last hours, incidents that last days and projects that run for weeks.

For longer or permanent deployments, external power supplies extend runtime. ISC’s Solar Power Supply gives unlimited runtime for up to two Radius BZ1 monitors, RGX Gateways or a mix of both. It’s portable and modular, so one worker can carry it and set it up.

With its approved leather case, the RGX Gateway is certified for ATEX Zone 2, IECEx Zone 2 and Class I, Division 2 hazardous areas, so it can be deployed on site rather than outside the work zone. It’s rated IP65 for weather and dust.

Integration With Site Control Systems

Beyond the cloud, the RGX Gateway supports Modbus RTU RS-485 for integration with site control systems and DCS platforms. Relay control connects it to external alarms, sirens and other site safety systems, so a gas event can trigger the right site wide response automatically.

Configuration can be done locally over Ethernet or Wi-Fi, or remotely over the air through iNet. Firmware updates are also delivered over the air.

iNet Subscription Required

An iNet live monitoring subscription is needed to access the data and alerts from the RGX Gateway. Talk to our Technical Consultants about current subscription options.

The RGX Gateway acts as a wireless communication hub that connects Ventis Pro5 personal gas monitors and Radius BZ1 area monitors to iNet Now Live Monitoring software. It receives gas readings, alarms, Man Down events and panic alarms from compatible LENS Wireless instruments and transmits them to the cloud via cellular, WiFi or Ethernet in real time.

The RGX Gateway is compatible with Ventis Pro5 multi-gas monitors and Radius BZ1 area monitors configured with LENS Wireless.

Up to 25 devices including the RGX Gateway itself can operate within the same LENS Wireless network group.

The RGX Gateway connects to iNet Now via cellular, WiFi or Ethernet depending on available site infrastructure. If one connectivity method fails, the RGX automatically switches to the next available method. A subscription to iNet Now Live Monitoring software is required to access alerts and data.

Yes. The RGX supports Modbus RTU RS-485 communication for integration with existing site control systems and relay control for connection to external alarms and sirens.

Yes. With its approved leather case, the RGX Gateway is certified for ATEX Zone 2, IECEx Zone 2 and Class I, Division 2 hazardous areas.

The internal rechargeable battery operates for up to 168 hours (7 days) at 25°C. For longer deployments, the optional Solar Power Supply provides unlimited runtime.

The Solar Power Supply is an optional accessory that gives unlimited runtime for up to two instruments: Radius BZ1 area monitors, RGX Gateways or one of each. It's portable and modular, so a single worker can carry and assemble it on site.
