Titan 2
Fixed Benzene Gas Monitor
The Titan 2 by ION Science is a fixed benzene monitor with world leading benzene detection technology. Using the new MiniPID T2 10.0 eV sensor and a unique sampling method that eliminates interference from toluene, xylene and methane, it detects benzene from 0.02 ppm (20 ppb) up to 20 ppm, sampling once a minute. Results show on a clear graphical LCD with bright LED alarm indicators, and output through 4-20 mA, RS485 Modbus or USB. ATEX, IECEx and QPS approved and rated IP65, it suits oil and gas, bulk storage, chemical manufacturing and asphalt production.

World Leading Benzene Detection
Benzene is a known human carcinogen. Long term exposure is linked to leukaemia, especially acute myeloid leukaemia. Exposure limits are low, and in the EU the limit dropped to 0.2 ppm in April 2026. Monitoring it reliably takes a fixed instrument that can detect benzene accurately at very low levels, in places where other aromatic compounds are also present.
Most fixed PID detectors can’t do this. A standard 10.6 eV PID detects all ionisable compounds, giving a total VOC reading that includes toluene, xylene and other aromatics as well as benzene. In a refinery or chemical plant, that combined reading doesn’t tell you how much benzene is actually there.
The Titan 2 is built for this problem. Its new MiniPID T2 10.0 eV sensor and unique sampling method eliminate interfering gases such as toluene, xylene and methane. The result is a benzene specific reading within a typical petrochemical gas matrix.
Continuous Monitoring at Low Levels
The Titan 2 detects benzene from 0.02 ppm (20 ppb) up to 20 ppm, with 10 ppb resolution and accuracy of ±50 ppb or ±10%, whichever is greater. It takes a sample once a minute, giving a steady stream of data.
Internally regulated heating keeps operation stable in extreme temperatures. The piezo electric micro pump combines silent operation with millisecond response and high precision.
Designed for Easy Installation and Service
The Titan 2’s modular design means the Ex d case can be installed well before commissioning. The service module is a plug and play cartridge that can be removed and replaced quickly, keeping downtime to a minimum.
Some components are serviced at six months and others at 12 months. Data is stored on board for at least six months and can be downloaded via USB for analysis. Registering the Titan 2 online extends the warranty to up to two years.
Where It’s Used
The Titan 2 suits oil and gas, bulk storage facilities, chemical manufacturing and processing, and asphalt production. It can also be used to check the performance of purification systems and vapour recovery units (VRU).
It’s ATEX, IECEx and QPS approved for hazardous areas, and its IP65 enclosure protects against dust and water, so it keeps working in dusty or humid conditions.
