The SharpEye 20/20U (and UB) is a UV flame detector that responds to high-energy ultraviolet radiation emitted by fires and explosions at the point of ignition. It detects hydrocarbon fuel and gas fires as well as invisible hydrogen, hydride, ammonia and silane flames, with a typical 3-second response.

KEY BENEFITS

  •   UV spectrum design catches high-energy ignition radiation
  •   Typical 3-second response time
  •   Detects invisible hydrogen, hydride, ammonia and silane flames
  •   Logic circuit suppresses solar-radiation false alarms
  •   User-programmable configuration

Ultraviolet Detection for the Fastest Flames and Invisible Fuels

The SharpEye 20/20U (and UB) UV flame detector senses the high-energy ultraviolet radiation released by fires and by explosions at the point of ignition. This makes it well suited to applications where flames appear suddenly and must be caught in the earliest instant.

Beyond conventional hydrocarbon fuel and gas fires, the 20/20U responds to invisible hydrogen flames as well as hydride, ammonia, silane and other inorganic fuel fires that many detectors struggle to see.

A special logic circuit built into the UV sensor helps prevent false alarms caused by solar radiation. Because UV detectors respond to arc and spark sources, the 20/20U should not be exposed to welding, sparks or electric arcs, which would trigger false alarms.

It responds to high-energy UV radiation from fires and explosions, detecting hydrocarbon fuel and gas fires plus invisible hydrogen, hydride, ammonia, silane and other inorganic fuel fires.

The 20/20U has a typical response time of around 3 seconds.

The UV sensor incorporates a special logic circuit that helps prevent false alarms caused by solar radiation.

No. UV detectors respond to arc, spark and welding sources, so the 20/20U should not be exposed to these as they will cause false alarms.

The UB version adds automatic and manual Built-In Test (BIT) capability for self-checking of the detector.
