Flame Detector Duct Mounting
A duct mount lets a flame detector watch inside a duct or an enclosure while the detector body stays outside it. The high temperature version does that where the ambient conditions at the mounting point are beyond what a standard bracket allows, which covers turbine enclosures, boiler areas, dryers and hot exhaust runs.

Monitoring inside a duct is a different problem from monitoring a room, and the mount is what makes it possible.
The detector has to see into the duct through an aperture, which means it has to be held at a fixed angle and a fixed position against a surface that heats up, cools down and moves. Thermal expansion shifts a bracket over a working cycle, and a detector that has drifted a few degrees is watching a different part of the duct from the one the design specified.
Temperature is the other constraint. The volume being monitored may be well beyond anything a detector can survive, so the mount does two jobs at once. It positions the detector to see in, and it keeps the detector body out. Where the ambient temperature at the mounting face is still high, a standard bracket is not rated for it and a high temperature mount is required rather than preferred.
