Visible. Loud. Certified. The SC-8000 Does Not Miss an Alarm.
The SC-8000 was designed for environments where ordinary portable gas detectors are not enough. Whether operators are working in semiconductor manufacturing, petrochemical processing, chemical plants, refineries or confined spaces, the SC-8000 delivers the combination of ruggedness, sensor versatility and alarm performance that demanding toxic gas applications require.
Its large LCD display simultaneously shows gas concentration as a digital numeric value and as an analogue bar meter, giving operators instant visual information about both the exact reading and how close it is to the alarm threshold. Three bright LED alarm lamps are arranged to be visible from all angles, ensuring the alarm is seen even when the operator is not facing toward the instrument. In loud industrial environments, the 95 dB adjustable buzzer cuts through background noise to deliver an unmistakable audible alert.
A Broad Range of Detectable Gases
The SC-8000’s defining capability is the breadth of its target gas range. Using potentiostatic electrolysis (electrochemical) sensor technology, it covers an extensive list of toxic gases commonly encountered across the semiconductor, chemical manufacturing, petrochemical and utilities industries. This includes specialised gases such as silane (SiH4), arsine (AsH3), phosphine (PH3), diborane (B2H6), germane (GeH4), hydrogen fluoride (HF), chlorine trifluoride (ClF3), hydrogen bromide (HBr), fluorine (F2) and many others, as well as common industrial toxic gases like ammonia, CO, H2S, NO2, SO2 and HCl.
Rugged and Certified for Hazardous Locations
The SC-8000 carries IECEx, ATEX and Japanese Explosion Protection certifications, classified as Ex ia IIC T4 Ga, making it suitable for use in the most demanding hazardous locations. IP67 ingress protection ensures complete dust sealing and short-term water immersion resistance, keeping the unit operational in the wet, contaminated environments common in chemical and utilities applications.
Flexible Power Options
The SC-8000 is available with either a lithium-ion rechargeable battery unit for approximately 25 hours of continuous operation, or a dry battery unit using three AA alkaline batteries for approximately 18 hours of operation. Both options provide a full working day of runtime without a battery change or recharge.

Many gases used in semiconductor, LED and solar cell manufacturing — including silane, arsine, phosphine, diborane, germane, chlorine trifluoride and hydrogen fluoride — are highly toxic at very low concentrations. The SC-8000's broad sensor range covers the specialised gases common in these environments that most standard personal gas detectors cannot detect.
The dry battery unit uses three AA alkaline batteries and provides approximately 18 hours of operation. The lithium-ion battery unit provides approximately 25 hours of operation on a single charge. Both options are available for the SC-8000.
Yes. The SC-8000 holds IECEx and ATEX intrinsic safety certifications (Ex ia IIC T4 Ga) as well as Japanese explosion protection approval, making it suitable for use in classified hazardous locations.
Yes. The SC-8000 includes IrDA for data logger connectivity. An optional data logger management program is available for PC-based data download and management.
The SC-8000 performs an air calibration (fresh air zero) on startup. Span calibration is performed using calibration gas specific to the target gas installed in the unit. Contact Gastech for calibration gas and service support.
