ToxiRAE Pro CO2
Personal Carbon Dioxide Monitor
The ToxiRAE Pro CO2 is the world’s first wireless personal carbon dioxide monitor. Using a non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensor, it provides safety professionals with wireless remote access to real-time CO2 readings and alarm status from any location for better visibility and faster incident response. Unlike the standard ToxiRAE Pro which uses electrochemical sensors for toxic gases, the ToxiRAE Pro CO2 is purpose-built for CO2 monitoring in safe area applications including chemical manufacturing, food and beverage, wineries and breweries, landfill operations and water and wastewater facilities.
KEY BENEFITS
- World's first wireless personal carbon dioxide monitor
- NDIR sensor for accurate, reliable CO2 measurement from 0 to 50,000 ppm
- Wireless access to real-time instrument readings and alarm status from any location
- Unmistakable five-way local and remote wireless notification of alarm conditions
- Largest display in its class

Personal CO2 Monitoring With Wireless Visibility: A First of Its Kind
Carbon dioxide is an invisible, odourless gas that can accumulate rapidly in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces, presenting a serious health risk to workers before they are even aware of its presence. The ToxiRAE Pro CO2 was the first personal wireless CO2 monitor ever developed, bringing a level of remote monitoring capability to CO2 applications that previously only existed for toxic gas monitoring.
Using a non-dispersive infrared sensor, the ToxiRAE Pro CO2 detects CO2 across a wide range from 0 to 50,000 ppm with 100 ppm resolution, covering both low-level exposure monitoring and high-concentration alarm scenarios. Unlike electrochemical sensors that are subject to cross-sensitivity and sensor aging, NDIR technology measures CO2 via infrared absorption, providing accurate and reliable readings that are not affected by common interfering gases.
Safe Area Use
It is important to note that the ToxiRAE Pro CO2 is a safe area instrument and cannot be used in classified hazardous locations. This makes it well suited to environments where CO2 is the primary monitoring concern but the risk of explosive atmospheres is not present, including food and beverage processing facilities, wineries and breweries, chemical manufacturing plants, landfill operations and water treatment facilities.
Real-Time Wireless Visibility and Man Down Protection
The ToxiRAE Pro CO2 transmits real-time CO2 readings wirelessly to Honeywell’s ProRAE Guardian software or EchoView Host, giving safety managers visibility into CO2 exposure conditions across the facility from a central command station. The five-way alarm system combines audible, visual, vibration, on-screen and remote wireless notification. A built-in Man Down alarm detects if the instrument has been stationary or in an unusual position for a set period, triggering a pre-alarm followed by a real-time remote notification if not cancelled, alerting others to a potential worker emergency.
Easy to Maintain and Calibrate
The ToxiRAE Pro CO2 includes a replaceable sensor, filter and rechargeable Li-ion battery, keeping ongoing maintenance straightforward. Fully automatic bump testing and calibration is available using the AutoRAE 2 system, and data can be downloaded to a PC via the charging and communication cradle or wirelessly through ProRAE Guardian for STEL, TWA, peak and compliance reporting.

The standard ToxiRAE Pro uses interchangeable electrochemical sensors to detect specific toxic gases and oxygen and is approved for use in hazardous locations. The ToxiRAE Pro CO2 uses an NDIR sensor specifically for carbon dioxide monitoring and is a safe area instrument only, it cannot be used in classified hazardous locations.
NDIR technology measures CO2 via infrared absorption, making it more accurate and reliable for CO2 detection than electrochemical alternatives, which can be affected by cross-sensitive gases and sensor aging. NDIR sensors also typically offer longer service life for CO2 applications.
No. The ToxiRAE Pro CO2 is a safe area instrument and cannot be used in classified hazardous locations. If CO2 monitoring in a hazardous area is required, contact Gastech to discuss fixed CO2 detection options.
The ToxiRAE Pro CO2 is suited to chemical manufacturing, food and beverage processing, wineries and breweries, landfill operations, water and wastewater facilities and indoor air quality monitoring in commercial buildings.
Yes. The wireless model transmits real-time CO2 readings to Honeywell's ProRAE Guardian software or EchoView Host for remote visibility from a central command station.
Yes. The Man Down alarm detects if the instrument has been stationary or in an unusual position for a set period and triggers a pre-alarm followed by a real-time remote wireless notification if not cancelled.
