The Wireless VOC Monitor That Detects Over 300 Chemicals
Most gas detectors monitor a fixed set of predefined gases using electrochemical sensors. The ToxiRAE Pro PID works differently. Using photoionisation detection technology, it can detect virtually any ionisable chemical compound, covering over 300 VOCs with a single instrument. This makes it the tool of choice for applications where the chemical environment is complex, variable or unknown – from industrial hygiene surveys and HazMat response to environmental cleanups and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Where the standard ToxiRAE Pro uses electrochemical sensors for specific toxic gases, the ToxiRAE Pro PID uses a photoionisation sensor with a 10.6 eV lamp (or optional 9.8 eV lamp) to detect volatile organic compounds with a detection range from 0.1 to 2,000 ppm and a resolution of 0.1 ppm. A T90 response time of less than 15 seconds ensures fast detection in dynamic environments.
190 Correction Factors. One Instrument.
The ToxiRAE Pro PID’s onboard library of 190 correction factors allows it to be programmed to read automatically in equivalent units of whichever compound is of interest. With over 300 published correction factors also available, it covers the broadest range of VOC detection of any personal monitor in its class. Whether you’re monitoring benzene, toluene, styrene, formaldehyde or any number of other ionisable compounds, the ToxiRAE Pro PID gives you an accurate, compound-specific reading without the need for a separate instrument.
Industrial Hygiene and Safety Configurations
The ToxiRAE Pro PID is available in two configurations to suit different user needs. The Industrial Hygiene (advanced) configuration provides full access to STEL, TWA, peak and data logging functions for detailed exposure assessment and compliance reporting. The Safety (basic) configuration provides straightforward alarm-based operation for workers who need simple, reliable VOC protection without the complexity of full data analysis.
Real-Time Wireless Visibility
Wireless models transmit real-time VOC concentration data to Honeywell’s ProRAE Guardian software or EchoView Host, giving safety managers visibility into chemical exposure conditions across the worksite from a central location. The five-way alarm system combines audible, visual, vibration, on-screen and remote wireless notification, with a built-in Man Down alarm that triggers automatically if the instrument detects the worker is stationary or incapacitated.
Simple to Maintain
The ToxiRAE Pro PID’s sensor, fan, filter and battery are all user-replaceable, keeping ongoing maintenance costs and downtime to a minimum. The AutoRAE 2 system supports fully automatic bump testing and calibration, and data can be downloaded to a PC via the charging and communication cradle or wirelessly through the ProRAE Guardian system.

The standard ToxiRAE Pro uses interchangeable electrochemical sensors to detect specific toxic gases and oxygen. The ToxiRAE Pro PID uses a photoionisation sensor to detect volatile organic compounds across a broad range of ionisable chemicals. They serve fundamentally different monitoring purposes.
PID uses ultraviolet light to ionise gas molecules in the air sample. When VOC molecules absorb UV energy, they produce a measurable electrical current proportional to the gas concentration. PID is highly sensitive to a broad range of organic compounds and is commonly used for industrial hygiene monitoring, HazMat response and environmental assessment.
The ToxiRAE Pro PID can detect over 300 VOCs using 190 built-in correction factors, with over 300 published correction factors available. It uses a 10.6 eV PID lamp as standard, with an optional 9.8 eV lamp available for compounds with higher ionisation energies.
The Industrial Hygiene (advanced) configuration provides full access to STEL, TWA, peak readings and comprehensive datalogging for detailed exposure assessment. The Safety (basic) configuration provides simplified alarm-based operation for workers who need straightforward VOC protection.
The ToxiRAE Pro PID has a 12-hour runtime on a single charge of its rechargeable Li-ion battery.
Yes. The ToxiRAE Pro PID holds CSA, ATEX, IECEx and China Ex hazardous location approvals.
