BoreRat

Remote Borehole Gas Monitor

BoreRat is a remote borehole gas monitoring solution from Gastech. Designed for oil and gas, environmental and landfill monitoring, it continuously measures up to six gases plus depth, pressure and temperature, and sends the data to a secure online portal or your own server over the mobile network. The system combines an industry proven gas monitor, a stainless steel Smart Probe and a 4G enabled Communication Orb, linked by Gastech’s own communication protocols, and runs for 10 days on a single charge, or continuously with solar power.

KEY BENEFITS

  •   A Gastech solution, set up, supported and serviced by our own technicians
  •   10 days runtime on a single charge. Continuous runtime with optional ATEX-certified solar panel via MIL cable
  •   Monitors up to 6 gases simultaneously using a built-in pumped sample draw from a 316 stainless steel Smart Probe
  •   Real-time gas, pressure, temperature, battery level, pump flow and GPS data transmitted to the secure online portal via 4G/5G LTE with user-provided SIM
  •   2-year access to the online data portal with included data storage provided as standard

Remote Borehole Monitoring From Gastech

Most borehole monitoring relies on regular site visits. BoreRat replaces those with continuous, automated remote monitoring. Gas readings, depth, pressure, temperature, GPS location and system health are all available in real time, from anywhere, through a secure online portal.

BoreRat is a Gastech solution. It combines industry proven gas monitoring hardware and sensors with Gastech’s own communication protocols, so the components talk to each other reliably and send data back from remote, challenging sites. It’s supplied pre configured and supported by the Gastech team.

How It Works

The system has three parts. The Gas Monitor sits at the surface and uses its built in pump to draw a continuous sample from the 316 stainless steel Smart Probe lowered into the borehole. The Smart Probe also measures depth, pressure and temperature.

The Gas Monitor sends all its data to the Communication Orb over secure, proprietary 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The Orb then uploads it to the online portal over the mobile network, using a user supplied SIM. Data includes date and time stamped gas readings, battery levels, pump flow, GPS location and maintenance records.

Because the Gas Monitor stays at the surface, it isn’t exposed to groundwater or acidic corrosion, which can cause sub surface gas monitors to fail quickly.

Quick to Install, Easy to Maintain

Installation is quick. Turn the components on and they configure themselves and connect through the Orb, appearing on the portal within minutes. Settings and processes can also be viewed and changed from a phone or tablet over Bluetooth, on iOS or Android.

The Gas Monitor runs for 10 days on its 26.4 Ah lithium ion battery. With the optional ATEX certified solar panel, connected by the supplied MIL cable, runtime becomes continuous, which suits long term programs at remote sites.

Sensor cartridges can be swapped in about 2 minutes, and calibration checks are done on site with standard field calibration gas. The sensors have an expected service life of 5 to 10 years.

Online Data Portal

All data goes to a secure online portal that can be viewed from any web browser. Two years of portal access, with data storage, is included as standard. Time and date stamped data is kept on the portal for up to 2 years, and portal pages can be customised to suit each client’s monitoring program. GPS locations link to Google Maps for easy asset tracking.

Designed for Support

Our trained technicians check the system performs before it’s delivered, and they’re available to keep it performing throughout its life. Gastech’s management systems are certified to ISO 9001.

BoreRat is a remote borehole gas monitoring solution from Gastech. It combines industry proven gas monitoring hardware and sensors with Gastech's own communication protocols, and it's supplied, set up and supported by our team, backed by our ISO 9001 certified management systems.

The Gas Monitor sits at the surface and pumps a continuous gas sample from a 316 stainless steel Smart Probe lowered into the bore hole. A Communication Orb receives all data from the Gas Monitor via secure proprietary WiFi and transmits it to the online portal via 4G/5G LTE using a user-provided SIM card.

The Gas Monitor runs for 10 days on a single charge. With the optional ATEX certified solar panel, connected by the supplied MIL cable, runtime becomes continuous.

All data is transmitted to a secure Senquip online data portal accessible from any web browser anywhere in the world. Two years of portal access with data storage is included as standard. Portal pages can be customised to client-specific requirements.

Sensor cartridges are replaced in approximately 2 minutes. Calibration checks are performed in-situ using standard field calibration gas cylinders. Sensors have an expected service life of 5 to 10 years.

Yes. The Gas Monitor is certified cCSAus Class I, Division 1 and IECEx/ATEX, with details depending on the sensors fitted. Talk to our Technical Consultants about where the Communication Orb and solar panel can be installed on your site.
