The Micropack FDS301 is an explosion-proof visual flame detector that processes live video images to detect the characteristic properties of flames. It delivers live colour video, on-board pre and post alarm recording and SIL 2 capability for maximum false-alarm immunity.

KEY BENEFITS

  •   Visual flame detection principle for maximum false-alarm immunity
  •   Live colour video output to the control room
  •   On-board micro-SD card records pre and post alarm video
  •   Single sensitivity for easy mapping and maximum coverage
  •   Advanced optical verification test

See the Flame: Visual Detection with Live Colour Video

The Micropack FDS301 is an explosion-proof visual flame detector designed for hazardous industries where fast optical flame detection is critical and nuisance alarms are not an option. Using a specially designed optical detection device, digital signal processing and hardcoded algorithms, it identifies the characteristic properties of real flames while rejecting sources that fool conventional detectors.

A live colour video image from each detector can be displayed on a control room monitor, giving operators immediate visual feedback of an event and helping to reduce response time. An on-board micro-SD card records video before and after an alarm, so incident investigations always have the evidence they need and there is never an unexplained alarm.

Its single sensitivity setting simplifies mapping and maximises coverage, while multiple output options including 4-20 mA, RS-485, HART and PAL/NTSC video ensure compatibility with existing systems. The FDS301 can run stand-alone with or without video and is user programmable via HART or RS-485.

With an unrivalled minimum MTBF of 2,000,000 hours, a separate FS301 flame simulator for function testing and Exida-certified SIL 2 capability, the FDS301 is engineered to protect the harshest environments with confidence.

It uses a visual detection principle with live colour video from a specially designed optical device, discriminating genuine flames from radiant sources that trigger conventional detectors, for superior false-alarm immunity.

Yes. An on-board micro-SD card records video before and after an alarm, which is invaluable for incident investigation and means there is never an unknown alarm.

Relay contacts for alarm and fault, a 4-20 mA current source, RS-485, HART and live colour video in both PAL and NTSC formats.

Yes. The FDS301 is certified SIL 2 capable by Exida and offers a minimum MTBF of 2,000,000 hours.

A separate Flame Simulator 301 (FS301) is used to test the detector, along with an advanced optical verification test that checks the window for obscurants.
