Swivel Mounting Brackets

Adjustable Flame Detector Mounting

A swivel mounting bracket lets a flame detector be aimed accurately rather than approximately. Movement of up to 40 degrees in all directions, and up to 60 degrees on the 20/20MI, means the aim can be set after the bracket is fixed rather than being decided by it.

KEY BENEFITS

  •   Allows accurate directional selection for optimum area coverage
  •   Adjusts up to 40 degrees in all directions, and up to 60 degrees on the 20/20MI
  •   Lets the aim be set after installation rather than being fixed by the mounting position
  •   Ensures the coverage area is where the design intended, not where the structure allowed
  •   Suits high mounted, cornered and retrofitted positions where a fixed bracket cannot aim

A flame detector protects a cone of vision, so where it is aimed decides what is covered and what is not.

That is a problem with fixed mounting, because the position available and the direction required are rarely the same thing. A detector goes where there is structure to hold it, which is frequently high, in a corner, or on steelwork installed long before anyone thought about flame detection. A fixed bracket points the detector wherever that surface happens to face.

A swivel bracket separates the two decisions. Mount it where there is something to mount to, then aim the detector where the risk actually is. Up to 40 degrees of movement in all directions covers most of what a real installation demands, and the 20/20MI extends to 60 degrees.

The practical benefit shows up at commissioning. Aiming can be adjusted and verified once the detector is powered and the area is as built. It does not have to be committed to at the point the bracket is drilled. On a layout with several detectors covering overlapping areas, that is the difference between a design that works and one that leaves a gap nobody finds until it matters.
