QRAE 3
Wireless Four Gas Detector
The Honeywell QRAE 3 is a compact, rugged monitor for up to four gases, available in pumped or diffusion versions. With the wireless option, it sends live readings and alarm status to a remote monitoring system around the clock, so safety managers see problems as they happen. The pumped version samples through tubing up to 30 metres long for confined space pre entry testing.
KEY BENEFITS
- Wireless real-time readings and alarm status transmitted 24/7 so safety managers have live visibility without being physically present
- Man Down alarm with real-time remote wireless notification adds an automatic safety net for lone workers and hazardous area responders
- Pumped or diffusion models available so the same instrument platform covers both personal monitoring and remote confined space pre-entry sampling up to 30 metres
- Field replaceable sensors and pump, with easy access to the battery, reduce downtime and service costs
- Large graphic display rotates 180 degrees so readings are legible regardless of how the instrument is clipped or worn

Wireless Four Gas Monitoring, Pumped or Diffusion
The QRAE 3 monitors up to four gases. With the wireless option, it also sends live readings and alarm status to a remote monitoring system, 24 hours a day. Safety managers see gas levels, alarms and Man Down events as they happen, not after the fact. That gives better visibility of an incident and a faster response.
It comes as a diffusion monitor for personal protection, or with a built in pump for sampling. The pumped version samples through tubing up to 30 metres long, so a confined space can be tested before anyone enters. A pump stall alarm warns the operator if the sample flow is interrupted.
Live Wireless Monitoring
The QRAE 3 connects over RAE Systems’ dedicated wireless mesh network, using the 868 MHz or 900 MHz licence free bands. It works with the EchoView Host and with ProRAE Guardian real time monitoring.
Typical line of sight range is 200 metres to an EchoView Host or RAEMesh Reader, and 100 metres to a RAELink3 Mesh. Wireless and non wireless versions are both available. Remote monitoring may need additional equipment or software licences.
Sensors To Suit The Job
The QRAE 3 takes up to four field replaceable sensors. Choose from LEL, oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, phosphine, chlorine and nitrogen dioxide.
The combustible sensor is a catalytic bead with a built in correction factor library, so it can be set up for combustible gases other than methane. The toxic sensors are electrochemical.
Alarms That Are Hard To Miss
Alarms come through five ways: a 95 dB multi tone buzzer, vibration, flashing red LEDs, an on screen message and, on wireless models, a remote notification. Alarms can be set as latching, non latching or manual override.
The Man Down alarm triggers a pre alarm first. If the worker doesn’t cancel it, a real time wireless notification goes out.
Easy To Read, Easy To Maintain
The large backlit graphic display rotates automatically or on demand, so it reads the right way up however the monitor is worn. Two buttons and icon driven menus keep operation simple.
The pump, sensors, filter and battery are all easy to get to. The case is concussion proof and rated IP67 for the diffusion model and IP65 for the pumped model.
Records and Fleet Management
The QRAE 3 logs data continuously, storing three months of readings for four sensors at one minute intervals. The interval can be set anywhere from 1 to 3,600 seconds. Data download, setup and upgrades run through the travel charger and a PC.
For fleets, the AutoRAE 2 automates bump testing and calibration. Device management is through Honeywell SafetySuite.
Fire and Emergency Response
Honeywell lists fireground “Toxic Twins” detection as a key application. The QRAE 3 can monitor both carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide, the two gases the term refers to. With wireless enabled, incident commanders can watch responder readings from a safe distance.

The MicroRAE is diffusion only, offers Mesh, WiFi or NB IoT connectivity and has GPS location, which makes it better suited to lone worker programs and wide area monitoring.
Yes. The pumped version draws samples through tubing up to 30 metres away, allowing atmosphere testing before anyone enters the confined space. A pump stall alarm alerts the operator if the sample draw is compromised.
The QRAE 3 is compatible with Honeywell's ProRAE Guardian Real-Time Wireless Safety System and the EchoView Host closed-loop wireless system. Both allow real-time gas readings, alarm status and Man Down events to be monitored remotely.
The Man Down alarm detects if the instrument has been in a non-upright position or stationary for a set period, triggering a pre-alarm followed by a real-time remote wireless notification if not cancelled.
The QRAE 3 supports up to four field-replaceable sensors simultaneously, selected from LEL, O2, CO, H2S, SO2, HCN, NH3, PH3, Cl2 and NO2.
The QRAE 3 carries a 2-year warranty on the device, a 3-year warranty on LEL, O2, CO and H2S sensors, and a 1-year warranty on SO2 and HCN sensors.
