Building the next generation of gas detection equipment, right here in WA.
Small team. Serious depth.
Together they take products from first concept to finished detector, all under one roof in WA.
Years combined experience
Lines of code written
Hours of data logged

Designed and built right here in WA.
Most gas detection companies source and resell. We engineer and build our own instruments from the ground up.
User led:
Each product starts with a brief built around the people who’ll use it and how they’ll use it on site.
Parallel engineering:
Electronics, firmware, hardware and mechanical design run side by side, so products reach the field faster.
Tested in house:
Mechanical simulation, 3D printing, electronics simulation and software qualification all happen under one roof.

Technical expertise behind complex projects.
Some gas detection problems can’t be solved with a standard instrument. When a site needs more than a standard configuration, our R&D team steps in.
Hardware and firmware guidance:
We work alongside our project engineers to guide the hardware and firmware for bespoke applications.
Embedded systems development:
Custom embedded systems developed for specialised installations where standard instruments fall short.
Technical documentation:
Complete technical documentation supplied with each solution, so your team can install, run and maintain it.

What Our R&D Means for You
Investing in research is investing in the future.
Gas detectors designed and built by the people who know them best.
Most gas detector companies sell equipment. Gastech designs and builds it too. Our in-house R&D function gives us a level of product understanding and development capability that very few Australian companies in this space can match and it shows in every instrument we manufacture.
Product development at Gastech is driven by a clear philosophy: build for the user, not the spec sheet. Every project starts with a marketing brief focused entirely on how the end user will interact with the gas detector in the field. From there, a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, hardware, firmware, software and embedded systems engineers takes the brief through design, simulation, prototyping and certification. By the time a product reaches tooling stage, it has already been stress-tested virtually and physically against the real-world conditions it will face.
The same engineering capability that builds our own gas detectors supports our project and application engineering work. Customers with specific requirements, whether it’s a non-standard gas, a complex installation environment or an integrated safety system, can draw on the same depth of expertise that goes into every Gastech-manufactured instrument.
Gastech’s R&D team is based in WA and supports gas detector projects across Australia and internationally. If you have a specific application or a challenge that standard products don’t address, we’d like to hear about it.
